Brotherhood: What It Means to Me

The past couple of weeks have been interesting ones for me because of the interaction that I've had with three Alpha Tau Omega fraternity brothers from the Zeta Mu chapter at Sam Houston State University. Two of them were roommates of mine at the ATO fraternity house on Ave. J in Huntsville, Texas. The other is one of my four 'little brothers' in the fraternity.

International Badge Day, March 1, 2010

Many of us are married to or have relationships with women who are sorority members. If they have not yet heard about International Badge Day, please tell them about it!

From the International Badge Day 2010 web page:

The 26 member organizations of the National Panhellinic Conference (NPC) are celebrating International Badge Day March 1, 2010, an annual event during which sorority women everywhere honor their Greek affiliations by wearing their badge or letters. This year's theme is "Keep Your Fraternal Experience Close to Your Heart".

Jon L. Derouen - 1939-2008

In the course of locating lost Brothers, the Alumni Association has learned that our DONS and ATO Brother Jon Derouen passed away on December 20, 2008. Jon, affectionately known as Teddy Bear to his DONS Brothers,  was a charter initiate of Zeta Mu when the Chapter was first installed in 1960. The last time most of us saw Jon was at the Silver Circle celebration of Zeta MU in 1985. Jon resided in Hermleigh, Texas, between Sweetwater and Snyder, and was prominent in farming and ranching activities in Scurry County.

I first met Bill Sutherland in 1967...

Bill Sutherland

I first met Bill Sutherland in 1967 when he pledged our fraternity, ATO, at Sam Houston State.

In a fraternity, you naturally gravitate to people who you relate to and those who share common interests. Bill and I became great friends instantly. Eventually I was in his wedding to Elaine and he traveled to Illinois to be in my wedding to Susie.

Did You Know?

This video was shown at the Leadership Training for ATO advisers in Indianapolis this past summer. The ATO Foundation paid the way for 18 of us to learn more about the upcoming freshmen. Rico

New web site for the Zeta Mu ATOs - Under Construction

We're in the process of constructing a new web site for Zeta Mu ATOs. The site is currently in the very early stages of development, but, we decided to make it "live" so that forward thinking brothers could help with the construction.

The first phase is to get the alumni database updated and to get online registration for the April reunion online. After that we have a lot of ideas for features to add.

We're putting out a call for volunteers to assist in the effort.
