Anyone hiring?

Hello Brothers,

I have finally graduated and am now looking for full time employment. I have been working at the gun store up in Huntsville for the past couple of months but am looking to move on to greener pastures. If anyone knows of any positions that may be available or know anyone who is looking to hire a recent college graduate I would very much appreciate the help of my brothers and my fellow alumni to help me find a steady job where I can get some entry level experience.

Toppled Tree

82 Last nights strong winds toppled a pine tree into the parking lot of the ATO lodge in Huntsville. That was the only tree that fell in the area. Luckily the tree missed brother Juan Luis Macias’ truck which was parked in the next parking spot. No damage was done to the lodge!

ATO Flag Ceremony

62

On April 19th, 2012 the Zeta Mu chapter of Alpha Tau Omega gathered at the Oakwood cemetery in Huntsville, Texas for the signature event of the semester. The chapter holds a ceremony every year to honor General Sam Houston and replace the tattered flags flying over his grave with new ones. This year our key note speaker was Mayor of Huntsville Mac Woodward. The event was a huge success with various members of the community attending.

Old Main: Looking back 30 years later

Old Main Burns - Photo courtesy SHS University ArchivesThirty years ago this month a fire consumed “Old Main” on the SHSU campus. Many of us remember being rousted out of bed and heading to the hill to watch as flames consumed this historic building. The Houstonian has published an article looking back at that fateful night:

University community members remember the night that a fire destroyed the Old Main building

On one cold night David Clements was walking back to his dorm when he saw smoke billowing out of a historic campus building. Old Main was on fire.

The freshman called the fire department to report what he saw. Firefighters from surrounding cities had to be called in because of limited staff at the Huntsville station. The wood and brick framed building had already been engulfed in flame for 20 min. It was too late to save.

Thirty years ago, on Feb. 12, 1982, Old Main fell for good.

Sam Houston Statue Bathed in Bearkat Orange

55 Photo by Gene ChauvinIn support of the Sam Houston State University Bearkat football program, the City of Huntsville will light the Sam Houston statue in orange for tomorrow night’s playoff game. According to City of Huntsville Community Services Director Matt Lumpkins, the statue will remain orange as long as the Bearkats are in the playoffs. “Using orange lenses over the spotlights we have on the Sam Houston statue, the City will turn Sam orange for the playoff game,” Lumpkins said.
