Dorothy Chandler (Mrs. Guy E. Chandler), mother of Brother James "Cuz" Chandler, passed away peacefully at home at The Grace Place on Sunday, June 20, 2010. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 26 at Grace United Methodist Church in Hearne at 2pm.

Dorothy was born October 17, 1924 in Denton, Texas to Frank and Madge Darlington. She spent her childhood in Taylor, Texas. After graduation from TWU and while waiting for an airline-hostess training academy, Dorothy taught school in Cameron, Texas. It was in Cameron were she met, fell in-love, and married Guy E. Chandler. Upon Guy's graduation from Texas A&M they moved to Hearne. Dorothy's teaching career began in Hearne and included schools in Mumford, Calvert, St. Michaels Academy and Blinn Junior College. Teaching was her life and aside from teaching, she travelled the world attending various universities to further her education. Dorothy's true joy in life was being the loving "Mommo", to her grandchildren; Heidi, Andrew, Amanda, Joshua, Jonathan and Jacob.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Frank and William; and a sister, Mary.

Survivors include her daughter, Wendy and her husband, Dirk, Marchbanks; son, James and wife, Sherry Chandler; sister-in-law, Barbara Darlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Remembrances may be made to The Grace Place in Bryan or St. Michaels Academy in Bryan.
