Ronald Caldwell

January 7, 1947 - November 24, 2010

Ronald Hudgins Caldwell, age 63, of Richmond and formerly of Wharton, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 in Houston.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1947 the son of Merrill Hudgins Caldwell and the late John Caldwell.

Mr. Caldwell was reared in the Hungerford area and graduated from Wharton High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Sam Houston State College.

Mr. Caldwell was an electrician by trade, being the owner/operator of Boxer Electric. He married Barbara Evanicky on Feb. 18, 2000 in Hungerford.

Mr. Caldwell enjoyed working, loved animals and took care of many stray dogs and cats over the years. He was an avid outdoors man and loved riding horses. Mr. Caldwell was a member of IBEW Local No. 786.

Visitation was held at Wharton Funeral Home Friday night with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held today, Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at Wharton Funeral Home at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Frelsberg at 1 p.m.

Survivors include wife, Barbara Caldwell of Richmond; mother, Merrill Hudgins Caldwell of Hungerford; brother, Larry Caldwell and wife Tina of Sugar Land; step-son, Brandon Holloway and wife Skye of Rosenberg; mother-in-law, Lydia Evanicky of Rosenberg; niece, Lauren Caldwell; and step-grandson, Colt Holloway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

If desiring, memorials may be made to the Wharton County SPOT, Pierce Texas or the American Cancer Society, 204 Second St., Wharton TX 77488.

Despite the Thanksgiving Holiday, Brothers Webb Melder, Tippy Bowman, Crash Robinson, Jim Marsh, Jim Danklefs and Rico Hanna joined Pete Kucera who delivered a very nice memorial speech at Ronnie’s service.
