I don’t think that Mark Twain was the originator. Most web references cite Will Rogers as having uttered this gem. I haven’t found an authoritative source though…
You’re right, Otis. I meant to say Will Rogers, but just had Mark Twain on the brain. I don’t think electric fences even existed in Twain’s days. Another of Rogers’ best was "Never miss a good chance to shut up." And so I will.
